St. Louis – Elections officials in all 50 states are scrambling to get a lot done by January 1. They're trying to meet requirements set up by the Help America Vote Act, which Congress passed three years ago in response to the problems in Florida during the 2000 election.
Missouri's race to compliance also includes a lawsuit by the federal government. The feds say the state's lists of registered voters are a mess. But one company in St. Louis claims to have an answer for that problem, and the state's top elections official says the lawsuit isn't really that necessary.
