Jefferson City, MO. – Governor Matt Blunt has ordered a review after the death of a Springfield area Medicaid patient.
Sixty-three-year-old Willie Reed was found dead Tuesday by friends at his home in Republic.
The kidney transplant patient was supposed to have been picked up earlier in the day by a state-contracted transportation service to be taken to a St. Louis hospital.
But the ride apparently did not show up.
Springfield television station KOLR reports that police believe Reed died before the transportation service was scheduled to pick him up.
But the Department of Social Services still plans to investigate.
