Jefferson City, MO – A Lake St. Louis company that provides transportation for some Missouri Medicaid recipients will pay the state $2.4 million to settle a case.
The state was investigating Medical Transportation Management for possible fraud. The company had won a $40 million contract to provide non-emergency transportation for people on Medicaid.
Concerns about Medicaid fraud, contract problems and antitrust violations prompted Nixon's investigation. The state said it was ending its contract with the company this summer, but the company says it continues providing the service.
In 2004, the state awarded the contract to another company with a lower bid. But that deal was voided after Medical Transportation Management protested.
