St. Louis – Missouri Attorney General Jay Nixon is suing a St. Louis-area man he says is fraudulently soliciting hurricane relief donations.

Nixon wants to freeze the assets of Frank Weltner, and shut down the website internetdonations.org.

Nixon says Weltner is a well-known white supremacist, and is not using the money he's collecting on the site to help people affected by the storm.

"This is a horrendous use of the victims of Hurricane Katrina to the benefit of a hate group," Nixon said. "And we are going to do everything we can within our power to stop this and prevent it from occurring in the future."

Weltner also operates another website many regard as anti-Semitic. And until January, he hosted a local program on radio station WGNU.

A phone number for Weltner could not be found to seek comment.
