St. Louis, MO – People can hear a free concert this weekend from the St. Louis Symphony.
It's a kind of thank-you from the orchestra for the support it got during a two-month strike.
The performance will also feature players from 14 other symphonies. It will feature more than 80 musicians who will be directed by Benjamin Zander, conductor of the Boston Philharmonic.
The program is planned for 4:00 p.m. at the Manchester United Methodist Church in west St. Louis County.
The concert was originally planned as a benefit to help raise money to support the St. Louis Symphony musicians, who walked off the job January third in a contract dispute. But when musicians voted Tuesday to accept a new contract, it was decided to keep the concert but make it free and make it a thank-you to the community.
