Does the World's Oldest Woman Live in U. City?

By AP/KWMU

St. Louis, MO – A family in the St. Louis suburb of University City is claiming the world's oldest woman.

Relatives say Katie Bruce will be 115 on March 11th.

The Guinness Book of World Records' web site lists a Dutch woman as the world's oldest living woman at 114, but Bruce is three months older.

She was born in rural Mississippi, but relatives say birth certificates weren't available at that time. The only verification of her age is her Missouri Medicaid card.

Bruce has raised 14 children. Her husband, Johnny, died 45 years ago when he was in his 50s.
