St. Louis, MO. – Thursday is the last day residents of St. Louis County can pay their personal property tax bills.
The county sent out nearly 900-thousand bills in October.
Revenue Collector Jon Friganza says there is a small penalty for late payers.
"Not everybody pays their personal property [taxes] by December 31," Friganza said. "A lot of people just decide that if their plates are due in April, eight percent to pay on a very old car isn't much to pay in penalty. They'd rather just do everything in the same day-renew their plates and pay their personal property taxes."
County offices are closed Friday, since New Years falls on a Saturday.
But Friganza says there will be no penalties for people who mail their bills by Friday. The post office will be open that day.
