St. Louis – Residents of Jefferson County will have a chance to weigh in on a proposed overhaul of county government Saturday.
The group Citizens for Charter Government says the county's three-member commission has become obsolete in the face of a growing population.
House Springs resident Ginger Frank chairs the organization.
She wants to use tomorrow's meeting to help clear up misconceptions about possible changes.
"Until the charter's actually written, it's merely speculation," Frank said. "This is only an opportunity for us to have a charter drafted for the county, and then it would be up to the voters whether or not its acceptable."
Frank is still gathering the petition signatures required to draft a charter.
Saturday's meeting starts at 1-30 at the Festus VFW hall.
