St. Peters, MO – St. Charles Circuit Judge Nancy Schneider says city officials must wait until they have permits to build a levee needed to spark development in flood plain near Highway 370.
The judge issued the injunction at the request of Adolphus Busch IV, a member of the Busch brewing family who opposes flood plain development.
He called the bond issue a potential expense to taxpayers.
Busch and other environmentalists say building the levee would increase flooding along the Mississippi River.
City officials believe the Army Corps of Engineers will issue a permit for the levee by the end of the year.
