St. Louis – Democrat Nancy Farmer wants U.S. Senator Kit Bond to remove his latest TV ad. Farmer is challenging Bond in the November election.

Bond's latest ad says Farmer, in her years as state Treasurer, denied loans to small businesses that would have helped create jobs. But Farmer says Bond knows that's a lie.

She pointed out to reporters in a conference call Tuesday that the Treasurer has no power to deny or approve loans.

"His attack is political garbage, and it's as insulting to me as it is to voters," Farmer said. "I have never lied about my opponent's record or distorted his positions and I never will because, frankly, with Bond, fact is better than fiction."

Bond's campaign has no plans to pull the ad. It stands by the claims, saying Farmer's work as Treasurer has cost the state jobs.

Farmer has yet to run her own TV ads in the campaign.
