St. Louis, MO – The leader of the St. Louis-based Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod held onto his presidency in an election Sunday.
Rev. Gerald Kieschnick got about 52% of the vote.
He then called on the church to put a dispute over a September 11th prayer services behind it. Kieschnick had okayed a pastor to pray at the service at Yankee Stadium, just after the attacks.
But some pastors objected to that. They said the event improperly mixed different religious beliefs, a debate that threatened Kieschnick's reelection.
