Jefferson City, MO. – The Missouri Governor's Race is now on television.
Gov. Bob Holden on Tuesday began airing campaign commercials as he seeks the Democratic nomination for a second term.
The ads emphasize Holden's efforts to protect education and health care funding against moves by the Republican majorities in the House and Senate.
State Auditor Claire McCaskill is challenging the incumbent Holden in the August Democratic primary. Her campaign questioned Holden's claims in the commercials, noting that lawmakers this year actually approved more funding for schools than the governor proposed.
McCaskill plans to begin running commercials within the next few weeks.
Secretary of State Matt Blunt has no major opposition for the Republican nomination.
