Blagojevich Mum on Budget Plans

By AP/KWMU

Springfield, Ill – Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich is keeping quiet on how he hopes to plug major holes that have developed in his budget proposal.

The Democratic governor said Tuesday he has a plan but will not discuss it publicly.

One possibility that he flatly rejects is increasing telephone taxes.

Blagojevich's budget is built on assumptions he now acknowledges are wrong.

The state will not be getting $350 million this year from a casino license, and pension costs could be $300 million higher than expected.

Despite such gaps, Blagojevich is challenging lawmakers to support his budget.
