St. Louis, MO – Missouri Democrats overwhelmingly chose Massachusetts Senator John Kerry in yesterday's presidential primary.

Al Sharpton got 14% of the vote in St. Louis City and appears close to getting 15% in the First Congressional District. That would qualify him for at least one delegate.

St. Louisan Dick Gephardt, who dropped out of the race long before Tuesday's vote, still got more than 8,000 votes, roughly 2%.

President Bush won the Republican primary last night and Gary Nolan won in the Libertarian primary.

Voters approved a request from the Metropolitan Sewer District in St. Louis City and County, which means the district will sell $500 million in bonds to pay for upgrades. Rates will go up, but would have gone up even more if the issue had failed.

Jefferson County Democrat Tim Meadows will serve the rest of State Representative Ray Adams' term. Adams died in August. A sales tax increase in Jefferson County and a development plan in Webster Groves failed, but questions in the Fox School District, Ladue, Florissant, University City, and Shrewsbury passed.
