St. Louis, MO – A small jet carrying Cardinals manager Tony LaRussa skidded off a snow-covered runway in Colorado this week, but LaRussa says he was unfazed.
He was headed home to California after a banquet in St. Louis Tuesday night when the plane made a scheduled refueling stop in Pueblo, Colo.
But only one of the plane's reverse thrusters, used to help the jet brake, worked. That caused the plane to veer off the snow-covered runway.
There were no injuries, though the plane was damaged. Another plane was flown in to carry everyone the rest of the way.
LaRussa says it was no big deal, adding losing a lead in the bottom of the ninth is more nerve-racking than what he went through in the plane.
