Springfield, Ill. – Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich has appointed Glenn Poshard to the Southern Illinois University Board of Trustees.
Poshard is a former Congressman from Southern Illinois who ran for Governor in 1998, losing to Republican George Ryan.
After his loss, he was a vice chancellor at SIU-Carbondale before his retirement. His appointment as a Trustee needs State Senate approval.
Blagojevich's spokeswoman Cheryle Jackson said Poshard was chosen because of his commitment and understanding of SIU and southern Illinois.
