St. Louis, MO – Monsignor Richard Stika, of the St. Louis Archdiocese, will not head to Pennsylvania to become a bishop there.

Stika was reportedly a candidate to head the Greensburg diocese near Pittsburgh; but the Pope last Friday instead named Monsignor Lawrence Brandt to be bishop. Brandt will head to Greensburg from the Erie, Pa. diocese.

Stika arranged the pope's trip to St. Louis in 1999. He was Archbishop Justin Rigali's secretary before Rigali left this summer to head the Philadelphia Archdiocese.
