St. Louis, MO – Local Boy Scouts collected 2.15 million cans of food this weekend. They went around collecting bags they had dropped off a week ago, hoping people would have filled them with non-perishables.
The food will go to the St. Louis Area Foodbank, which will distribute the goods to more than 400 food pantries in the St. Louis area.
Organizers are calling it the largest single-day canned food drive in the U.S. In the 19 years the St. Louis Area Council of the Boy Scouts has held the campaign, it has collected more than 27 million cans of food.
