Springfield, Ill. – The official portrait of former Illinois Governor George Ryan will be unveiled Tuesday.

His likeness will go alongside Illinois' other chief executives in the part of the Capitol Building called the Hall of Governors.

Ryan and current Governor Rod Blagojevich are expected to attend the ceremony.

It will be Ryan's first trip back to the Statehouse since his campaign fund and a former top aide were convicted in the federal Operation Safe Road scandal.

Former Governor James Thompson, House Speaker Michael Madigan and Senate President Emil Jones also are expected to attend the ceremony.

Artist Richard Halstead, of Evanston, painted the $15,000 painting. It shows Ryan wearing a dark suit while standing next to a table. His hand is on a glass paperweight shaped like the Illinois Capitol dome.
