Chicago, ILL. – The Internal Revenue Service has filed a lien against Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich's campaign fund.
That's according to the Chicago Sun-Times, which says the fund owes overdue corporate taxes from 2001.
The paper says the lien was filed in June, but the governor only recently learned of it. The IRS is seeking $8,032; the action does not imply there has been any criminal conduct.
Campaigns don't pay taxes on individual contributions, but they must pay taxes on any interest or investment gains.
