Granite City, Ill. – A doctor in Granite City, Ill. could lose his license after a complaint that he performed an abortion on a woman who wasn't pregnant.
The Illinois Department of Professional Regulation will hold a hearing in June on Doctor Yogendra Shah.
The agency filed a complaint accusing Shah of performing an abortion on a woman in 1998 when she was not pregnant. The woman alleges that she went to the clinic believing she was pregnant. But test results after the procedure showed she was not.
The complaint alleges the doctor failed to test the woman before the procedure.
Shah declined comment Thursday. There's also a pending lawsuit, filed by the woman, against the doctor in Madison County.
