Jefferson City, MO – Missouri will get nearly $29 million in federal homeland security aid.
The money will be used to train and equip agencies that would respond to terrorist attacks and other emergencies.
It's part of $1.5 billion dollars in available grants announced Wednesday by National Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge.
States must submit applications outlining how they will use the grants. Tim Daniel, Missouri's homeland security adviser, says the state's share will go mainly to local governments for equipment and emergency response training.
He adds the state also will make an effort to send money to the high-population centers of St. Louis and Kansas City.
