Jefferson City, MO – A dispute between state officials and lobbyists has stalled legislation over pharmacies. The proposal was written after the case of Kansas City druggist Robert Courtney, who was convicted of diluting prescriptions.
The legislation would allow the state's Board of Pharmacy to be more aggressive in cases that could threaten people's health.
But critics, like the Missouri Pharmacy Association, say the law would endanger pharmacists' rights to due process and a fair hearing, adding the plan would give the Pharmacy Board too much power.
