St. Louis, Mo. – The city of St. Louis is leaving the nursing home business. Officials said Thursday the city doesn't have the money to invest in the Harry S Truman Restorative Center, located at 5700 Arsenal.
Truman usually gets $2.5 million each year for operating costs. But the building needs millions of dollars in repairs.
The city has promised to help relocate the 158 residents and find jobs for the 200 employees.
The center opened in 1967; St. Louis city took over operations in 1986.
