St. Clair, MO – An autopsy is planned today in California for a suburban St. Louis Marine recruit who died during basic training.
Eighteen-year-old Neal Edwards of St. Clair collapsed Saturday after running an obstacle course, and died yesterday at a San Diego hospital.
Edwards was on his eleventh day of training at the main West Coast Marine training site. Family members say they were told Edwards may have suffered five heart attacks. The military is expected to return Edwards' body on Thanksgiving
Day, with a full military service planned at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.
