Columbia, MO – University of Missouri Curator Paul Steele says UM has offered Elson Floyd the job of university president, and Steele says he's certain Floyd will take it.
Floyd is currently the president at Western Michigan University; there's been no official announcement from either school.
At age 46, Floyd would be the first black president in the 163-year history of the University of Missouri. He would succeed Manuel Pacheco, who retires at year's end.
