Recent Tragedies Alter Schedules in MO Senate Race

By AP/KWMU

St. Louis, MO – Recent deaths have altered schedules in the final days of Missouri's campaign for U.S. Senate.

Republican Senate nominee Jim Talent has halted his personal campaign appearances the last two days after his father, Milton, died this weekend. But he'll be in Springfield this morning for an appearance with former President George H.W. Bush. He'll then return to St. Louis for his father's wake. Talent will appear tomorrow with former New York Mayor Rudolph Guiliani.

Democratic Senator Jean Carnahan has a campaign appearance this morning in St. Louis County. She'll then fly to Minneapolis for the memorial service for Senator Paul Wellstone. The Minnesota Democrat was killed Friday in a plane crash, just more than two years after Mrs. Carnahan's husband, Mel, died in a plane crash while campaigning for the Senate seat she now holds.
