Midway through today's polling, St. Louis County Democratic elections director Joe Donahue is slightly revising his turnout projects -- downward.
Donahue estimated early this afternoon that the countywide pace appears to be on track for a final turnout of 18-20 percent of the county's 600,000-plus registered voters. That's down from his initial projection of about 25 percent, which was in line with the state's estimate.
Heavier voting activity was reported in Clayton, which is in the middle of the hot 24th District state Senate primary between Democrats Sam Page and Barbara Fraser.
Donahue reported no major problems at the polls, and said that all sites opened on time.
Meanwhile, St. Louis Election Board spokesman Gary Stoff also reported light turnout and no major problems. The city's biggest item on the ballot is a school bond issue proposal, Proposition S.
