Forest Park Forever is hoping for a little state help in its efforts to raise $130 million for upkeep and capital projects in the city’s largest park.
The non-profit, which oversees Forest Park, will ask the Missouri Development Finance Board on Tuesday for $2.5 million in tax credits to give to donors in 2013. (The item is on the agenda as 7b.) A vote on the request will come at a later date.
Donors redeem the credits to get a break on their taxes equal to 50 percent of the donation. Forest Park Forever’s head of development says the incentive was used for the major renovations in the late 1990s. He did not know if it would be impacted by ongoing discussions about curbing tax credits.
