A former Veterans Administration official in St. Louis who admitted accepting gratuities from contractors has been ordered to spend a year and three months in federal prison.
Russell Todd, 69, of Chesterfield pleaded guilty in March, admitting he accepted $20,000 in baseball tickets, meals and entertainment at a gentleman's club from Joseph Madlinger and Michael Woodling between 2007 and 2010.
At the time, Todd directed projects for the VA Medical Center in St. Louis and was steering $3.4 million in work at the VA to a company owned by Madlinger and Woodling.
Woodling and Madlinger have pleaded guilty. Madlinger was sentenced to two years in federal prison and a $50,000 fine. Woodling got three years of probation and a $60,000 fine while being ordered to pay $1.5 million in restitution.
